That is AWESOME! I spend more than that per quarter.
I think our power company has the 'smart meter' rigged. It doesn't matter if we are gone for a week or here for the full month it is almost always the same.
Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every living creature that moves on the ground. Genesis 1:28 The Lord God used animal skins and made some clothes for the man and his wife. Then he put the clothes on them. Genesis 3:21So take your bow and arrows and go hunting and kill an animal for me to eat. Genesis 27:3
Well it's tax time again and I been sorting thhrough my reciepts. The total electric bill for my homestead in 2012 came to 385.22 ;D
That's including taxes and fees etc. During trapping season I have 2, sometimes 3 freezers and 3 fans running.
Guess I'm living pretty frugal the rest of the year.
Thats amaizing! I would love to have that bill! I can hardly pull that off for a month! 7 people living in my house earlier last year we had 10. wanna hear something crazy? When I moved from southern Nevada outside of LasVegas our bill would be over 750.00 a month! We were so excited when we moved here and power was so much cheaper, but you sir have done it good!
Right on JC. You cook with wood If I'm not mistaken. I think I read that somewhere.
I do quite often but also have a gas cooktop. When I built the place I set it up for multiple cooking devices, gas, electric and wood.
I have a full size all electric range but have the breaker shut off and never use it. It'll sell with the house. I have a large size toaster oven that I can cook anything but a turkey in and that's a huge money saver. I don't have to preheat it and it doesn't use much power. During the hot days, I can just put it on the porch if I'm baking something and it doesn't heat the house up.
You can see the toaster oven in the corner there. This pic was taken a long time ago, this was before I smartened up and killed the standby power to the range. When I killed the standby power to everything I wasn't using, my power bill dropped like a rock.
My bill for the whole year was 385 bucks but in ACTUAL power usuage, my house consumed approx 90 bucks worth of electricity. the remainder of that bill was taxes and fees from the power company
My next place will be off grid entirely with a solar array, Sundanzer fridge and freezer and a bunch of cool gadgets I been thinking up.
Every penny I save on household expenses I can spend some place else. ;D
