well the guy came on Monday to start my daughters pond. He brought a dozer, excavator and a mini excavator. He took off the topsoil and started in. It's about 18' deep. He also graded off some of the property and took up some of the old barn foundation. We knew there was blue stone there as the neighbor had told us the used to take the stone out of there for basement foundations years ago, well he hit that so that is a awesome base. He finished today other than some more rough grading .

Heres a couple pics from before.its not the exact spot but you can see the difference . The one pic you can see the out building roof in the back ground . The other pic is where the dyke starts and you can see the tops to the fruit trees.

It's almost full. Just looking at panfish for now. I learned the hardway to let these fish get established BEFORE you put in the predator fish (bass ,catfish etc)

This is a pic from Easter Sunday of my daughters pond that she had dug last fall,it's filling up pretty good, but not much movement in the last month. There is a spring over bluestone at the bottom, when the guy built it I had drawings and explained what she wanted, well this was her husbands family friend and he did it for free for them, and I hate to complain , but he went way deeper than we had drawn and kinda did his own thing, now I'm afraid what happened is its so deep and created so much pressure that it has pretty muched negated the spring or atleast equalized the pressure and won't fill anymore,I hope I'm wrong because it's 5' from the overflow and going to be a ton of work to lower.

Well a little update on the pond,it doesn't seem to be filling at all,my son put his kayak in on fri and measured it in a few spots,61/2' was the deepest he came up with. So we had a different guy come look at it on sat . He thinks it's leaking out of the back corner,he found a section where they didn't push off the topsoil so he thinks it's leaching out there, said he could try and fix it it and grade it off a little better but can't guarantee anything . He will get a price to them.

Also have been working on grading their garage to pour concrete, got it all graded and poured it on sat, ended being just under ten yds, went down really nice the guy had it finished by noon,we started at 7am, put the sealer on sat night, removed forms today, came out really nice. We have a 13' x 30' section left in the garage, a 6' x 50' apron out in front of the garage,a10 x 30' patron and sidewalk left to do.
All poured.

nytrapper....I long for a pond as shown. Have my 13' x 8' and 8' stream but still not the same. Koi, frogs, dragonflies, deer, squirrels, birds, etc. enjoy it as do we

It is amazing how fast the critters take up residence. It is loaded with tadpoles, coon tracks all over the banks. We are going to add some panfish shortly maybe a month or so.

It truly is amazing how a water feature, no matter how large or small, brings in a whole new variety of wildlife...to which the sounds of Mother Nature are also amplified.

Well we ended up catching 88 crayfish a few minnows and some hellgrammites and put them in the pond. I caught two nice perch while bass fishing today so I kept them and put them in there to.
Here is a pic of the full moon the other night with the reflection in the pond .

The pay for doing all this work isn't much, actually it's nothing ? But they always feed me well , that all I need and a couple cold ones when I'm done.
What a gorgeous place. Do you have a lot of regulations there about putting in a pond? Here in B.C. we are regulated to death. I have a small drainage ditch running through my property and want to do some work on it to spruce it up a bit but the rules are outrageous.
