Ok guys, its time for maple syrup to start flowing. I dont have a clue how this all works and was wondering if any of you guys gather sap and are willing to share some information with the rest of us?
Sap is flowing here in west WI. Neighbor has been doing ok so far. This next warm stretch will likely put a stop to it. Best flow on warm days with nights below freezing. His sugar bush is old school with pail, and 55 gallon barrels to hold the sap when collected. Big stainless evaporator on a wood fire to boil it down. The smell of spring in our neighborhood is the smell of wood smoke filtered through the maple woods. labor intensive project, but such sweet rewards.
