Been seeing them here for a couple of weeks. Have a pair starting to build their nest in one of our boxes. Thinking I'll have to take some close up video of them again this year. Looking forward to seeing the first Indigo Buntings make their way through. Most vibrant blue I've ever seen.

Let's just say I'm jealous. Finally getting some spring weather so maybe I'll see some soon. Our poor little robins have had snow on their tails at least six times since they returned.

They've been working here in my houses as well, fighting off swallows in the process. Love to see them around.
Do you actively try to keep the swallows out, and if so, how?? I've had to resort to 'plugging' the boxes I have set out for Bluebirds and leaving a few other boxes open for the swallows. They haven't shown up here yet...probably 2-3 weeks too early, but I'm lookin'...

I don't, the bluebirds seem to do a good job of chasing them away, but I would love to hear some ideas of how people keep them away.

Some guys told me to hang two houses very near one another , one for swallows one for blue birds , I did this a few times but it didn't work they still fought for the area even though they weren't gonna use both boxes . I don't mind the swallows it's the dam sparrows I hate , I just open them up and tear out those nests .

I've heard if you hang a washer off the side of the hole with some mono it will keep the sparrows from nesting. Don't know if it will work with swallows or not. Doesn't effect the Bluebirds.
