A friend of mine and I did a cut out on the Kenya top bar nuc split I did a while back we cut the comb off of 8 bars and rubber banded them to Langstroth deep frames and put them in 5 frame nuc boxes two high all went great hot in the bee coat this morning 80* at 8:00 am so we didn’t take the time for pictures we looked at my full size top bar hive and he told me I could make 3 more nuc with it and not hurt it as it’s full of bees and brood so it looks like the sak queen is a hit and I will be harvesting honey next week end out of that hive also
queens are hard to find, I'm right on with capped brood.. but eggs and larva, got my son in law out there yesterday.. younger eyes.. LOL
had one hive taken over by hive beetles I caught it in time swapped it out and may be OK time will tell.. its an adventure.. I have about 2 acres in garden,, it seems its either to hot or raining to work here..
opened a box the other day with out the suit.. learned a lesson there.. some days those gentle bees can be down right mean...broke a toe the other night stumbling around in the dark,, I was hopping out of the woods that day..

I got stung twice last week when I was in my top bar hive and those girls are always gentle in my lang hives I use the black plastic foundation it makes seeing eggs and larvae a lot easier as far as finding the queen if I see fresh eggs I know she was there 1-3 days ago if you still want to find her the queen has blonde legs and a large shell looking top on her thorax take a look at this picture
those pictures are cool.. I found one queen in a split, was black looked nearly like a dirt dobber..
seems its either raining here or to hot.. got a huge garden this year, and spread thin with work.. of course thats work when the spirit moves me.. going to get the grand daughter out there this morning to build up some frames.. one of the splits has bees all over the front of the hive.. so it must be doing something well.. going to add another 5 frame medium box to it.. I had learned one thing,, when it says to make a medium box 6 and 5/8s deep... 7 inches isn't close..bur comb.. is the results.. I've been cutting down my boxes.. going to have to pull honey super, take the honey and replace a super, cut down the old one.
