It's been several years now since I've hunted over a dog. I used to have a Black Lab that was a real crackerjack and a pleasure to be with. After she passed I never trained another hunting dog. This border collie I have is smart as a whip and could be trained for anything and I've thought about possibly hunting birds with him. How many of you have working dogs? Be it hunting dogs or working livestock. What's on your leash?
Well, I dont wanna say that Emma, my Bloodhound is a WORKING dog, cause I aint seen her do nothing but eat, sleep, poop and fall over her own ears, but I think she's got potential to be a good coondog. We used to raise beagles when I was younger, but space ran out and dad got bored of it.
I'm thinking about getting a Jack Russell pretty quick. Buddy of mine uses em for ridding the rats around his feedbarns and running rabbits as well. They're a hoot to watch get after a coon in a junkpile!
Yea but what about the times I go through the drive thru and don't have pants on?---Maritimer
My buddy and I on here kris (coonhunter87) back in december got ourselve to pups they are brothers for coon hunting they are BMC black mouth curs. If any one is looking at a getting a truely amazing dog I would recomend checking these dogs out. They are great house dogs and very smart and easy to train. They are silent on the track and then open up at the tree. They dont bark all day long like a hound so if you live in town or somthing like that. They are 6 months old right now and we have been running them on live coon they are starting to get the hang of it. Not allot of people have herd of them they are great cattle working dogs also and are used allot in the south on hogs. Well here are some pics of them Duke is my pup in camo collar and Tucker is coonhunter87s pup in the black collar.
I have a siberian husky as well as a blue healer cross with border colie my blue healer is a good guard dog and knows to stay home I haven hardly had to train him with anything he just knew what to do. My husky is only 9 months old so she is getting there as is looking to have good potential.
I have a beagle/cocker spaniel mix which is very mellow and a good companion not a bad rabbit dog either. Then I have a Brittany he's another hunting dog he's a very hyper dog but i love em both. The beagle/cocker spaniel mix her name is cookie. The brittany's name is Oliver.
