I've been lurking about the homesteading and preparedness forums a good deal lately and I'm feeling a sense of urgency to step it up and get even more stuff packed away in food storage. I'm thinking at the very least we're going to see some pretty bad inflation. I'm already seeing it at the grocery store.
We got a lot of gift cards for wedding gifts so we've been using those to put some things back. I found some canning jar lids tucked away at WalMart for a decent price the other day, so I grabbed a pile of those. Been trying to get some things that aren't hard to store like dry pasta. I had some extra Cabelas points so I ordered a couple of those jar sealer attachments for my vac sealer. I have a lot of quart jars so I'm going to pack up a bunch of pasta and other dry goods.
In the spring I think I'm going to try and hatch some quail eggs. My sweetheart has fond memories of eating quail eggs so I think I'll add them to my livestock. Oh and I got my first seed catalog yesterday!
Use it up, wear it out. Make it do, or do without![/b]
