Anyone here ever make a net, outside of Derek? lol I got bored a couple days ago and tried to make a net. For my first time I don't think it turned out to bad. I did everything free hand no net needles, nothing. I should've used a guide line but I just eye balled it haha I figured it would be something useful to know, and I think with a little practice it will only get better.
This is how I did it.

That could be a handy skill to have.
Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every living creature that moves on the ground. Genesis 1:28 The Lord God used animal skins and made some clothes for the man and his wife. Then he put the clothes on them. Genesis 3:21So take your bow and arrows and go hunting and kill an animal for me to eat. Genesis 27:3
JC The picture you posted is the one I learned from. Then I went on to weaving a net with a shuttle much easier for the nets I have planned. Make yourself a shuttle out of a old bleach or detergent bottle. You can wind a good amout of line on one of those. Several good sites on the web about net making.
My goal is to finish the hoop net I have started. Think I bite off more than what I can chew.
Yeah this was just a test run for me to see if I could handle the patience to make one haha. My ultimiate goal is to be able to make a couple hoop nets for turtle traps. Just gotta find the time I think I will be investing in some shuttles and gauges, and going that route instead of free handing it. Haha because in my opinion the one I made a couple of days ago is just sorry looking.

I have a buddy in the U.K. that makes some big nets for ferreting and covering the warrens for rabbits. Some he has made as long as 100' , yea like I would have that patience but I guess with all the rain they get he gets bored.
